Here are a few easy ways for you to stop massive bleeding in your downline but also to keep your organization strong and your downline motivated properly.
1. Newsletter
Prepare a newsletter of regular frequency (like on a weekly basis) and send it out to your downline, containing brief tips in succeeding in multi-level marketing. You have to let your downline know you care. You could make use of your newsletter to acknowledge achievements, praise key members of your team, give simple tips and worthy advice, among others.
2. Free newsgroup
A newsgroup could be great tool in promoting teamwork. A newsgroup could enable your team members in helping out each other. It could set your team apart as well as making it seem so special. You should visit your newsgroup as frequent as possible, often giving as well as requesting feedback. You have to assure your downline that you are visiting the newsgroup regularly.
You might also even want to post a regular schedule to let the team members that you have know the time and date you will be visiting the newsgroup. In that way, if your downline ask for some feedback or remark from you, they would know your scheduled next visit in the newsgroup will be.
You could use the weekly newsletter advised in step one in promoting your newsgroup. Do encourage team members in taking advantage of your newsgroup. If possible, put a separate section of the newsletter on issues raised in your newsgroup. Free newsgroups are available at sites like Google, Yahoo, and MSN.
3. Setting up your free forum
A free forum is very similar in many ways to the newsgroup. A forum could even have more features than a simple newsgroup. A forum could also be used as a complement or instead of having a news group.
4. Blog
Blogs can be used in complementing your newsletter. A blog could be an additional tool in keeping contact with your downline and showing them that you care. It is recommended having some quick tips and tools that you could post from time to time, maybe like at least once per week in the blog. A blog could also be a good place in posting timely updates.
It would be better that you also have the weekly newsletter in the blog to make it easy for your downline in seeing previous newsletters. Try to encourage the team members in starting their own blog sites and even offering to link the team blog to individual blogs of team members.
5. Conference calls
Try to organize frequent conference calls. These conference calls could be a tool for recruiting more people in your downline. Calls such as these could also serve as a way for you in motivating and helping your team. You might consider having some conference calls for members on a weekly basis as well as having conference calls on a frequent and regular basis that could serve as recruiting period.

“Motivate” your downline to do what? Do you want your downline to retail the products or services the MLM company has to offer? Do you want your downline to recruit additional distributors into your downline? Or are you trying to motivate your downline so they keep on believing they are going to eventually make money even though the only way that can happen is if they have a large downline themselves?
Most of the time, MLM products are overpriced beyond any reasonable value. So if you want your downline to retail the product or service, then that is like asking them to sell a one dollar bill for a five dollar bill; it just isn’t worth the price.
Trying to motivate your downline to recruit others into the same scheme is tough to do when statistical data shows that 99% of those recruited end up “Losing” money. Only 1% ever make enough to profit.
If you are simply trying ot motivate your downline by having them believe fortune is right around the corner, well, that is the #1 method used in MLM to keep distributors onboard. This ONLY benefits those leaders with large balanced downlines. Of course they want their distributors to stay in because the downline’s ongoing participation fees is what pays the fat commissions for those leaders. It certainly isn’t about selling overpriced product to retail customers. It’s the fact that some distributors benefit solely because they have so many distributors under them. Motivate them to stay on board so that they can continue to lose money while the top leaders make millions.
This is nothing more than a pyramid scheme.
Hey Newbie -
The short answer to your question is – don’t!
What you need to do is find a proven system of training and marketing that you can plug your downline into.
Bombard them with valuable information that they can apply in their own lives and businesses.
People are either motivated, or they’re not.
When you provide your downline with great step by step training so they are constantly learning, constanly growing, and making money right away, they will be plently motivated to keep going!
The secret is that 95% of your prospects will not join your MLM. That’s just a fact.
When you learn how to profit off that 95%, plus the 5%, AND show your downline how to do the same – everybody wins!
Have fun, and good luck buddy.

Hello Newbie,
Actually speaking you do not need to motivate instead you need to guide and train your team.First you need to follow than you will be followed. Learn and then teach.
First thing you need to do before investing in an MLM since you are a newbie is to evaluate the company, its products and most important thing is the team, their training specially your upline under whom you are going to build you MLM business. This covers 60% -70% of your job of growing your business.
Now you need to co-ordinate with your upline and follow a training schedule to learn the basics to build and grow your business keeping in mind your available resources and budget for advertising and automating the complete process of developing your business. Persistence is the key, with time you will succeed and should teach your downline to do the same.
Good luck!

Hmmm, I’m curious as to how others get away without motivating their downlines… Let’s face it, your team needs your support. You did sponsor them, after all, and as a TRUE LEADER you need to be there to help motivate them.
But let’s face it, you can’t really motivate anyone beyond what they can find it within themselves to muster. So I wrote a quick blog post about your question you can find via the source link below. Here’s what it covers:
1) You must inspire
2) You must praise
3) Give them what’s been ignored inside of them
4) Introduce new BIG ideas
5) Give them some personal attention
Now THAT is true motivation in MLM and Network Marketing!
All the Best!
